SMASHING our Crowdfunding Goals! | Our plans moving forward

EXIT SURVEY LINK

To say we are blown away is an understatement. In just two days, we managed to raise nearly $1000 USD for the production cost of the zine - and our funding will remain open through July. Never in a million years did we expect a turnout this incredible, and we are so grateful to the community for believing in us and spreading the love.

With that being said, we’ve had a lot of internal discussion as to how to proceed as transparently and ethically as possible. The TL;DR of our goal moving forward is this:

1. Secure the copies for donators -> 2. Secure the copies for Community Fund members -> 3. See if extra money can cover the shipping fees for those on the Community Fund -> 4. See if extra money can cover the shipping fees for everyone -> 5. Donate the remaining proceeds to charity

First, we need to make sure that everyone who donated is able to be contacted down the line when it’s time to ship the zines out. itch.io is very savvy about protecting peoples’ payment/contact info, which makes sense for digital products, but is a bit of a hindrance in our case. This is why we designed the exit survey - to collect everyone’s email, the quantity of zines they desire, whether they wish to donate to the Community Fund, and which country or city they want the zines shipped to. If you donated, you will be contacted when the crowdfunding window closes to arrange shipping details.

IF YOU DONATED AND YOU DID NOT FILL OUT THE EXIT SURVEY, PLEASE FILL IT OUT. If you know anyone who donated, double check with them that they filled it out. Otherwise, it will take a longer time for us to figure out the true demand of the zines. We are missing about 23 donators as of this post!

With this information, we can match up the demand for the zines (quantity-wise) with the amount we should spend on production vs. shipping vs. charity donations. We have received a large influx of generous donations (and we love you so much for it <3), but that doesn’t accurately represent the number of zines that should be made. If our data tells us 150 people want a copy of the zine, we can print 150 and use the rest of the funds to eliminate shipping fees or go to charity. It would be better than creating another 100-200 zines that don’t get claimed, and then no money goes to charity, or no shipping cost help is offered.

Next, let’s talk about how we’re going to hang onto the funds. They will not be touched or withdrawn whatsoever until the day we put the order in with our manufacturer - and only the production amount will be drawn. The rest will remain until we begin shipping out orders, which we will probably do in batches, and that will be announced accordingly. At the end of everything, the money remaining goes to our charity of choice, the Crisis Text Line.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment on this devlog, or send us an email at worshipfanzine@gmail.com. Or, if you're in the Discord, you know where to find us!

We are so very excited to be a part of all this, and we thank you endlessly for your trust and confidence in us. Looking forward to sharing more updates, behind-the-scenes progress, and more.
